בין היתר, בשלטים נכתב ש"אני חולה", "זה הטרייד הגרוע בהיסטוריה ו"שאנחנו דורשים תשובות". אוהדי הקבוצה אף תלו שלטים על הפסל של דירק נוביצקי, לצידו כתוב ש"נאמנות לא נעלמת אף פעם". האוהדים פרסו שם חולצות ומרצ`נדייז של דונצ`יץ`, כולל אחת הגופיות הנמכרות ביותר בכל ה-NBA. המשטרה המקומית אמרה שהיא מצפה שיגיעו יותר ויותר אנשים ונערכת בהתאם.
אביו של לוקה דונצ׳יץ׳, סאשה, בהתייחסות ראשונה לטרייד: ״הצביעות של המאבס פגעה בי אישית. לוקה הקריב המון למען דאלאס, זה כל כך לא הגיע לו. זה לא פייר. לוקה לא הפסיד כלום במהלך הזה. אף פעם לא קל לעזוב קבוצה, אבל אני בטוח שיהיה לו טוב. הוא יאהב את לוס אנג`לס״.
